Frame Your Embroidery!

When you own a home-based embroidery business, every now and then you need to create your own designs or something you want just for you. Focusing on other people’s needs for so long can result in a drastic drop in your creativity and motivation.

From time to time you just have to make something for the sake of creating it. Not because someone is going to buy it. And when you create your own embroidery designs or work off a pattern just for you to enjoy, then you should also find a way to display it in your workspace.

You might think of hanging your embroidery directly on the wall in the hoop, and this is a great option! But if you already have a few up on the wall and want to create something more unique, like a gallery wall with different shapes to attract attention, then framing your embroidery is another great option!

And it’s an easy process too!

All you need is:

  • Iron & ironing board
  • Foam core board
  • Cutting mat or even just a piece of cardboard
  • Pins
  • Tape
  • Box cutter or an X-acto knife
  • Iron & ironing board
  • Your embroidery & a frame!

First decide on a frame!

If you don’t have an embroidery already picked out, it’s easier to get a frame and create your embroidery to fit in it rather than trying to find a frame to fit your unique embroidery.

Start embroidering!

Then it’s a simple process of ironing your embroidery to the foam core board, getting the embroidery to the right size, and getting it into the frame. Then you have a unique piece of work to hang up in your workspace or around your home!

You can find a detailed tutorial at Craftsy by clicking here.

If you plan to show your embroidery and are framing it to hang up at a local coffee shop or gallery, then you should also make sure to get labels printed so everyone knows who created the piece!

What do you do with your personal embroidery? How do you display it?
