Weekend Project: Monogram Your Converse-Style Sneakers

Weekend Project: Monogram Your Converse-Style Sneakers

Are you looking for a cool embroidery project for the weekend?

We recently saw this post from the PolkaDotChair.com, showing us how to monogram converse sneakers! Whether you have a pair yourself or you have a child/niece/nephew that has a pair or 10, you can make these for anyone! Or you can buy them on Etsy.com, but wouldn’t you rather spend the weekend working hard on your monogramming skills and creating something handmade for a loved one or yourself?

This may even be a great way to branch out if you run a home-based embroidery business. You can monogram just about anything, but most people won’t think to monogram their sneakers. And they’ll be missing out! It looks cool and it keeps your shoes safe if your whole group swears by converse sneakers. And it doesn’t matter if they’re real Chuck Taylor’s or some lookalikes you got at Target, you can monogram ‘em!

All you need is a pair of Converse-style sneakers, freezer paper, colored craft paint, fabric medium for the craft paint, Cricut machine, an iron, and your monogram font!

Your Cricut machine should come with software that makes it easy to perfectly size your sneaker monogram. If you’re not too familiar with your Cricut machine, this tutorial will show you exactly how to use it for this project.

Once you have the monogram stencil you can either use the acrylic paint or you can embroider the monogram on the converse shoes!

If you don’t have a Cricut machine, you may find this tutorial by Embroidery Garden useful when embroidering a monogram on your converse sneakers. It gives you tips on the size of your design, how to position it, how to embroider it with a machine, and how to lace up your shoes so you see that beautiful monogram!

What crafts do you have planned for this weekend?
