5 Awesome Ways to Make Your Own St. Patrick’s Day Decor

With all the fun traditions on St. Patrick’s Day, it’s hard to come up with unique ideas for your St. Patrick’s party. If you love embroidery, we have one huge suggestion that will totally transform your party and make it stand out from the rest this year: ditch the plastic. Instead of heading to the party supply store for your standard decorations, we challenge you to get creative and try embroidering something you may already have at home.

St. Patrick’s Day

Decorative shamrocks

Shamrocks are an essential symbol of St. Patrick’s Day. Try making stand-alone embroidery shamrocks as little decorations you can place around your home to replace plastic decorations you will throw away in a few days. Not only are they cuter and more impressive, but you can re-use them year after year without having to throw anything away!

St. Patrick’s Day

Leprechaun hat

Oh, the leprechaun hat, always a staple at St. Patrick’s Day parties. While you can get a plastic hat at a party supply store, it’ll be much for fun to embroider one and show it off to your friends. A simple green felt hat can be transformed into something cute and unique for St. Patrick’s with the help of embroidery. You just add the black strap and golden buckle and it’s a classic leprechaun hat!

Plaid

Any cute St. Patrick’s Day costume involves plaid. But why run out to the store and spend money on something that’s so costumey you can only wear it once per year? Instead, personalize your very own plaid clothing that will last longer and look better than your typical party store costume. You can take a cute red or green skirt and add a plaid design, or you can use a plaid skirt and embroider it with a special St. Patrick’s Day design for a totally fun outfit that will steal the show.

St. Patrick’s Day

Tablecloth

A tablecloth is an easy option for embroidery, since it’s an unspoiled piece of fabric just waiting for you to unleash your creative energy! All you have to do is choose a design and embroider it onto a plain white or green tablecloth that you may already have lying around. Gold, shamrocks, rainbows, and any other classic St. Patrick’s designs you can think of will totally wow your guests if you take the time to embroider them.

Flag banner

We’ve already written up a how-to article on how to embroider your very own flag banner for any holiday or celebration. There are all sorts of different designs you could try this month. Irish flags would be a great celebration of the holiday’s heritage. Or you could go with some classic lettering, “Happy St. Patrick’s Day” in a nice cursive font. Even a simple green flag banner would be an adorable decoration if you want to go the extra mile for this year’s St. Patrick’s party.
